皇家為避免薪資仲裁，7日又以1年242.5萬美元，續留先發左投達菲(Danny Duffy)。

達菲的合約中還包含激勵獎金，若是下個賽季先發20場，可多領1萬美元的獎金；先發25場以上，則有1.5萬美元；如果能入選明星賽，可另外得5萬美元的紅利獎金。
26歲的達菲生涯前4年都待在皇家，上賽季先發25場，主投149.1局，雖然只繳出9勝12敗的戰績，但防禦率2.53，被打擊率更是僅2成09，在皇家先發投手群中排名第一。
皇家在季後雖未能留住王牌投手薛爾茲(James Shields)，但隨即從自由市場簽下前海盜投手瓦茲奎茲(Edinson Volquez)，並找來傷癒復出的前勇士投手麥德蘭(Kris Medlen)，搭配原有的達菲、范杜拉(Yordano Ventura)、瓦賈斯(Jason Vargas)以及賈瑟理(Jeremy Guthrie)等人，先發輪值仍維持一定水準。
日前球隊才剛與肯恩(Lorenzo Cain)、及莫斯塔克斯(Mike Moustakas)完成續約，還剩一壘手漢斯默(Eric Hosmer)、投手霍蘭(Greg Holland)未完成薪資仲裁協議。
